The number of confirmed Australian Covid-19 is increasing by 40 to 70 every day. It is a rare situation for people to visit downtown Sydney, a densely populated area.
As of 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday (local time), Australian health authorities said that there were 636 confirmed coroners, up about 40 in a day.
"A 6-year-old child in the state of NSW was confirmed and recorded as the youngest confirmed person by this day," said Kerry Chant, chief health officer of NSW. He then said, "We will update the data every day."
The total number of confirmed patients is currently 636, according to the tally provided by health authorities in each state and region. At least 43 have fully recovered. The number was tallied at 307 NSW, 149 VIC, 94 QLD, 37 SA, 35 WA, 10 TAS, three for ACT and one for NT. The total number of deaths totaled six, with six people killed in the WA and five in the NSW.
Meanwhile, five more people have died in 18 days since Australia's first Korona 19 death.
The first death was a 78-year-old Western Australian Perth man, one of 163 Australians who escaped from a diamond princess cruise ship in Japan and were quarantined at Howard Springs in the northern part of the country.
The second death was last Tuesday. The 95-year-old woman was living in Dorothy Henderson Lodge near Macquarie Park, north of Sydney. Two other residents of the same nursing home have seen a high mortality rate among the elderly, with the death of an 82-year-old man on Sunday, March 8, followed by the death of a 90-year-old woman on Saturday, March 14.
Those in their 50s accounted for the largest number of confirmed cases by age, followed by those in their 30s, 40s, 20s and 60s. There were far fewer cases in which people over 70 or under 20 were diagnosed with coronavirus.
Corona 19 is an important point for the elderly to take extra care.
Experts raise concerns that if Australia shows the same trend as similar countries, where infections have doubled every six days, it could reach 6,000 by early April.
