필자는 지난 2019년 2월9일부터 3월9일까지 서울시 서대문구 충정로 2길 8 충정각에서 “한국화가-한국 여인…인체의 아름다움 탐색전” 주제로 누드 소장전(所藏展)을 가진 바 있었습니다. 이때 “저는 한국화가가 그린 한국여인의 누드화에 살짝 미쳐있습니다. 아니면, 많이 무지하게 미쳐 있을 수도 있습니다. 누드 소장 전을 여는 이의 생각인데, 여체는 신이 지닌 예술세계와 ‘동급’이라고 생각합니다. 모든 여성에게는 생명을 잉태하는 신비함이 함께합니다. 여기에는 몇 가지 이유가 있습니다. 한 마디로 누드화 속의 여성은 모두 벗었습니다. 나체, 그 자체입니다. 작품 속에는 작가의 관점, 두드러진 강조점이 숨어있습니다. 생명의 영속성으로서의 ‘어머니’, 그런 위대한 존재로서의 피가 흐르고 있습니다. 그리고 모든 여체가 지닌 선들은 보면 볼수록 아름답습니다. 그래서 누드화란 쳐다보면 볼수록 아름다움을 느끼게 됩니다. 삶이 곤고하고 괴로웠던 시절, 한 점 누드화에서 위로를 받았었습니다. 인간은 누구나 벌거벗은 존재라는 데서 위안을 얻었습니다”라고 밝힌 바 있습니다.
이어 “작품 소장자가 '누드사랑' 전시회를 여는 까닭은 누드화의 가치를 재평가해 보려는 의도도 있습니다. 이번 전시가 첫 번 째이고 전시작품은 20여점 정도 입니다. 바라건 데 회를 거듭할수록 전시작품이 늘어났으면 합니다. 이 소장 전시회에 출품된 누드화는 소장자가 지닌 작품들입니다. 누드화 소장 전을 여는 이유는, 소장자와 같이 누드화에 미쳐버린 사람, 아니 더 미쳐버릴 수 있는 여지의 사람들에게 여체가 지닌 미세한 그러면서도 영구적인 아름다움을 선사하기 위한 것임을 알려 드립니다”라고, 강조 했었습니다.
그 이후 2022년 3월2일부터 31일까지 서울 종로구 인사동길 30-7 ‘갤러리 레스토랑 담’에서 두 번째 누드화 소장전을 엽니다. 필자가 소장한 25여명 작가의 누드화 50여 점을 전시하게 됩니다.
필자에게 누드화를 알게 해준 작가는 조범제 작가님이십니다. 2004년, 조범제 화백의 화실(경기도 한탄강 부근 두물머리)을 방문하게 됐습니다. 그곳 화실에서 조범제 화가 그린 누드화를 보게 됐습니다. 조범제 화가는 6세부터 그림 그리기를 시작, 지난 63년간 화업(畫業)에 정진한 예술인입니다. 그는 해방공간에서 3균주의를 주창한 조소앙의 친조카이기도 합니다. 누드화란, 인간의 영원한 생명의 지속인 여체를 많이 소재로 합니다.
그 후 누드화에 관심을 갖기 시작, 오늘에 이르렀습니다. 그리 많지는 않지만 다수의 누드화를 소장하게 됐습니다. 그러는 중 누드화를 그리는 여러 화가님들도 만나게 됐습니다. 누드화를 수천 점 그려온 장영주 화가님은 누드화에 대해 “네 몸은 하늘, 땅, 사람이 어울려 깃든 궁전임을 깨달아라!“라고 했습니다. 모든 사람, 여자든 남자든 모든 사람의 몸은 ‘거대한 궁전’임을 지적해주셨습니다. 누드화에는 여러 모델의 모습이 화폭에 담겨 있습니다. 보기에도 좋습니다. 있는 그대로의 모습이 참 아름답습니다. 모든 인간은 예외가 없이 여성의 몸에서 나왔습니다. 그렇다면? 인간은 아름다운데서 나온 존재라고 정의합니다. 누드화의 주인공인 여체(女體) 또는 남체(男體)는 인간영존의 주체이자 지고(至高)한 아름다움, 그 자체입니다.
