BTS Surpasses $500 Million in World Tour Revenue—A First for a Global Pop Group

Projected Final Cumulative Revenue: $1 Billion (Approx. 1.36 Trillion KRW)

Break News Reporter Park Dong-je = Global superstars BTS (RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, Jungkook) have proven their unrivaled popularity by becoming the first pop group in the world to surpass $500 million (approx. 680 billion KRW) in world tour revenue.

According to the latest Boxscore data released by Billboard (US) on the 30th (local time), BTS’s world tour—titled "BTS WORLD TOUR 'ARIRANG'" and launched in Goyang, South Korea, last April—has exceeded $500 million in cumulative revenue.

On the 1st, the group's agency, Big Hit Music (under HYBE Labels), stated, "In the history of Boxscore, fewer than 20 tours have generated $500 million in revenue, and BTS is the seventh group to achieve this milestone. The six acts that previously reached this record were all rock bands; BTS is the first pop group to hit the $500 million mark."

They also reclaimed the top spot on the "Top Tours" chart. BTS ranked first by generating $171.7 million (approx. 230 billion KRW) in ticket sales and drawing an audience of approximately 800,000 people across 12 shows held throughout August. This marks the second-highest monthly revenue in the history of Billboard Boxscore tracking, trailing only Beyoncé (who generated $179.3 million in August 2023).

With this achievement, BTS has secured the number one spot on the Billboard "Top Tours" chart for the fifth time in their career. They have joined the ranks of artists with the most chart-topping tours, following Bad Bunny (10 times), as well as Beyoncé, Coldplay, and Elton John (7 times each).

According to Billboard's analysis, BTS has approximately 40 additional shows scheduled, and their final cumulative revenue is projected to approach the $1 billion mark (approximately 1.36 trillion KRW).

Meanwhile, BTS is set to kick off their South American tour, "BTS WORLD TOUR 'ARIRANG'," starting in Bogotá, Colombia, on the 2nd.
