ㅁ코로나19 백신 미접종을 고집하고 있는 노박 조코비치가 결국 이달 예정된 미국투어 일정을 포기했다.

조코비치는 10일(한국시간) 자신의 트위터를 통해 "미국 질병통제예방센터(CDC)의 규정이 바뀌지 않아 미국에서 경기를 할 수 없다고 확인했다. BNP파리바 오픈과 마이애미 오픈에 출전할 수 없게 됐다"고 밝혔다.

CDC 규정에 따르면 BNP파리바 오픈과 마이애미 오픈 모두 코로나19 백신 접종을 받아야 하지만 조코비치는 아직까지 접종을 거부하고 있기 때문에 출전이 불가능하게 된 것이다.

BNP파리바 오픈 주최측도 트위터를 통해 "조코비치가 기권함에 따라 다음 시드인 그리고르 디미트로프가 조코비치의 시드로 이동하게 된다"고 소식을 전했다.

지난 1월 호주오픈에서도 백신 미접종 때문에 호주 입국이 불허돼 출전할 수 없었던 조코비치는 세계랭킹 1위 자리까지 내주고 2위로 밀려났다. 조코비치가 미국 투어 일정까지 기권함에 따라 랭킹 추가 하락이 예상된다.

Novak Djokovic, who insists on not being vaccinated against the 코로나 COVID-19 vaccine, eventually gave up his U.S. tour schedule scheduled for this month.
