사우디 사막에서 골프 열풍이 불어온다. 총 상금 4938억 원 규모 골프시리즈가 6월부터 불꽃 레이스를 시작한다.
LIV 골프 인베스트먼츠는 3월 17일(한국시간) 공식 채널을 통해 "LIV 골프 인비테이셔널 시리즈가 오늘 공개됐다. 시리즈에는 8개 대회가 포함된다. 새로운 방식이다. 2022년 6월부터 2억5000만 달러(3086억2500만원) 이상의 상금이 걸려있다"고 밝혔다.
사우디 석유 자본을 바탕으로 하는 골프 시리즈가 오는 6월부터 시작된다. 총상금 규모는 4억 달러(4,938억 원)다.
각 대회는 사흘(54홀) 일정으로 커트라인 탈락이 없다. 샷건 방식(각 홀에서 출발)이라 빠르고 흥미진진하다. 빠른 진행은 선수들을 1년 내내 고민하게 만든다.
새로운 형식은 갤러리에게도 흥미롭게 다가갈 것이다. 필드가 축소되고, 라운드 수가 감소된다. 이벤트 수도 적고, 경기 시간도 단축된다. 샷건은 모든 것을 더욱더 빠르게 만든다. 갤러리에게 최적화됐다.

이어 그는 "우리는 새로 시작했다. 장기적인 비전을 가지고 있으며 성장을 목표로 했다. 장래가 매우 밝고 흥미진진하다"고 덧붙였다.
이번(2022년) 시즌 정규 대회는 7개로 구성된다. 일정은 6월 9일부터 11일까지 센츄리온 골프클럽(영국 런던), 7월 1일부터 3일까지 펌킨 릿지 골프클럽(미국 포틀랜드), 7월 29일부터 31일까지 트럼프 내셔널 골프클럽 베드민스터(미국 뉴저지), 9월 2일부터 4일까지 인터내셔널(미국 보스턴), 9월 16일부터 18일까지 리치 하베스트 팜(미국 시카고), 10월 7일부터 9일까지 스톤힐(태국 방콕), 10월 14일부터 16일까지 로열 그린스 골프 앤드 컨트리클럽(사우디 제다)이다. 4곳은 미국이고, 나머지 3곳은 영국, 사우디, 태국에서 열린다.
최종전(팀 챔피언십) 장소는 미정이다.
방식은 팀 골프다. 48명이 4인 1조 12개 팀으로 나뉜다. 새로운 방식을 시험하기 위해 첫 시즌 전 세계 골퍼들이 초청된다.
각 정규 대회의 상금은 2,500만 달러(약 308억6,200만원), 팀 챔피언십의 상금은 5,000만 달러(617억2,500만원)다.
정규 대회 상금은 개인에게 지급하는 2,000만 달러(246억9,000만원)와 상위 3개 팀에게 지급하는 500만 달러(약 61억7,200만원)로 나뉜다.
정규 대회 종료 후 시즌 상위 3명에게는 3,000만 달러(370억3,500만원)의 상금을 지급한다.
노먼은 "우리의 일정은 다른 투어 주요 대회와 겹치지 않도록 최대한 배려했다. 선수들이 원하는 곳에서 플레이할 수 있어야 한다. 우리는 어떤 방법으로든 도울 것이고 골프 선수들의 잠재력을 최대한 발휘할 기회를 제공할 것"이라고 했다.
LIV 골프 인베스트먼츠 관계자는 "해당 계획에 자선 기부가 포함돼 있다"고 덧붙였다.

The new format will also be interesting to the gallery. The field is reduced, and the number of rounds is reduced. The number of events is small and the game time is shortened. Shotguns make everything faster and faster. It's optimized for galleries.

This season's regular tournament will consist of seven. The schedule is from June 9 to 11, Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club from July 1 to 3, Trump National Golf Club Bedminster from July 29 to 31, International from September 2 to 4, Rich Harvest Farm from September 16 to 18, Royal Bangkok from October 7 to 9. Four are held in the United States, while the other three are held in the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and Thailand.
The final match (team championship) venue has yet to be decided.
The method is team golf. 48 players will be divided into 12 teams of four. Golfers from all over the world will be invited in the first season to test the new method.
The prize money for each regular tournament is $25 million (about 30.862 billion won), and the prize money for the team championship is $50 million (about 61.725 billion won).
The prize money for the regular tournament is divided into $20 million (24.69 billion won) paid to individuals and $5 million (6.172 billion won) paid to the top three teams.
After the end of the regular tournament, the top three players of the season will receive $30 million (37.335 billion won) in prize money.
