■ Stock Manipulation Must Destroy Everything! 〈4〉The Warning Was Issued, but Where Did the Money Go?
■ Namu Technology Rallied Even in a Market Crash. The Reality of Post-Warning Share Transfers Must Be Questioned
Park Cheol-seong, Journalist 〈Director of the Research Center · Columnist〉
▲On a day when the broader market collapsed, Namu Technology kept rising. Warnings had already been issued, but trading volume exploded, and money began to move near the peak. The image illustrates the anxiety of individual investors left behind at the end of the rally. Illustration=AI-generated.
Stock manipulation was supposed to destroy everything.
But the market showed a different scene first.
It was not destruction.
It was a transfer of shares.
June 5 was a market crash.
A domestic market index screen showed a KOSPI-related indicator at 8,160.59, down 478.82 points from the previous session. KOSDAQ stood at 1,002.44, down 47.29 points. The Korean won-U.S. dollar exchange rate jumped 27 won to 1,559 won. It was a day when the entire market sent out a signal of fear.
▲A domestic market index screen as of the June 5 close. A KOSPI-related indicator and KOSDAQ both fell sharply, while the won-dollar exchange rate climbed to 1,559 won. It was a day when the broader market flashed a warning sign. Source=Securities firm HTS capture.
But Namu Technology kept rising.
At the very moment KOSDAQ was falling, Namu Technology (242040) was trading at 8,570 won, up 780 won, or 10.01%, from the previous session.
The warning had already been issued.
Still, the stock kept running.
That is the starting point of this article’s question.
■ The Warning Was Issued, but the Stock Kept Rising
In a normal market, a warning should act as a brake.
An investment caution notice is a signal of overheating. An investment warning is a louder alarm. An investment risk designation is close to the final stage, indicating that normal price formation may no longer be taking place.
But in the case of Namu Technology, the warning worked differently.
After the warning was issued, trading did not cool down. It increased. After the market was told to be careful, buying interest intensified. After risk-related disclosures appeared, the stock moved to even higher price levels.
Even on June 5, when the broader market was crashing, Namu Technology continued to rise.
The warning was not consumed as a brake.
It was consumed like a promotional poster.
That is the problem.
■ Dissecting Namu Technology’s Surge
Namu Technology is a KOSDAQ-listed company engaged in software development and supply. Based on the listed entity, its date of incorporation is shown as March 2016, and its listing date as September of the same year. The company has 112 employees. Its chief executive officer is Jeong Cheol. Its major business areas are listed as cloud solutions, usage-fee revenue, solution services, and server and storage equipment.
The stock movement was as follows.
The stock rose from 4,675 won on May 21 to 5,040 won on May 22, 6,290 won on May 26, 6,620 won on May 27, 7,490 won on May 28, and 8,780 won on May 29. On June 1, it surged as high as 11,100 won intraday.
Trading volume also exploded.
Daily trading volume exceeded 12.18 million shares on May 26. It reached 12.72 million shares on May 27, 17.99 million shares on May 28, and 16.54 million shares on May 29. On June 1, 24.45 million shares changed hands.
The closing price on June 1 was 6,610 won. The gap between the intraday high of 11,100 won and the closing price was 4,490 won.
This was not just a simple rally.
It was a scene in which a massive amount of shares changed hands near the peak.
▲Daily candlestick chart of Namu Technology. After a sharp rally in late May, the stock climbed as high as 11,100 won intraday on June 1, but closed at 6,610 won. The chart shows a pattern of heavy share transfers near the peak. Source=Securities firm HTS capture.
■ The Largest Shareholder Is Not CEO Jeong Cheol
There is one fact that must be checked.
Namu Technology’s largest shareholder is not CEO Jeong Cheol.
According to public filings, the largest shareholder is Lee Soo-byeong and four related parties, who hold 6,155,222 shares, or a 17.79% stake. Treasury shares amount to 1,469,156 shares, or 4.25%.
Lee Soo-byeong repeatedly filed large shareholding reports on June 24, 2025, September 1, 2025, including a correction, September 22, 2025, December 23, 2025, and March 4, 2026.
This does not mean the filings were illegal. Fulfilling disclosure obligations is a normal procedure.
However, the fact that changes in the largest shareholder’s holdings were repeatedly disclosed before the stock began its full-scale surge is a point that the market and regulators need to examine, according to market observers.

■ Disclosure Flow Coincided With the Rally Period
The disclosure flow was also not light.
On February 26 and 27, 2026, Namu Technology issued disclosures on the exercise of exchange rights for two consecutive days. When exchange rights on exchangeable bonds are exercised, the underlying shares may come into the market, which can be interpreted by existing shareholders as a supply burden and a potential dilution concern in terms of shareholder value.
On April 22, corrected disclosures related to a subsidiary merger decision and other major management matters were issued. On April 29, the company made a voluntary disclosure on securities issuance results. On April 30, a correction was filed regarding the decision to issue bonds with warrants. On May 14, the company disclosed a decision to convene an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting, set a record date for the shareholder register, and submitted its quarterly report all at once.
Financing, merger-related disclosures, a shareholders’ meeting, and earnings reports were tightly linked around the rally period.
Themes feed on disclosures.
Disclosures become expectations. Expectations become prices. Prices then bring in trading volume.
In the meantime, individual investors often press the buy button before asking questions.
■ Did the Fundamentals Keep Up With the Stock Price?
The financial statements must also be examined.
Revenue rose steadily from 90.6 billion won in 2023 to 91.4 billion won in 2024 and 102.3 billion won in 2025. In the first quarter of 2026, revenue reached 37.0 billion won, up 117.2% from 17.0 billion won in the same period a year earlier.
Operating profit swung from losses of 800 million won in 2023 and 2.2 billion won in 2024 to a profit of 2.3 billion won in 2025. Operating profit in the first quarter of 2026 was 400 million won.
The turnaround is meaningful.
But the picture changes when net profit is examined. Consolidated net profit in the first quarter of 2026 was 800 million won. However, the figure that matters more directly to shareholders of the listed company is net profit attributable to controlling shareholders. That amount was only 200 million won.
Cash flow must also be examined. Operating cash flow in 2025 was solid at 10.1 billion won. It remained strong at 9.8 billion won in the first quarter of 2026. However, investment cash flow in the same quarter showed an outflow of 7.4 billion won. Operations are improving, but actual cash is being consumed quickly due to expanded investment spending.
The issue is speed.
Can this level of earnings improvement explain a market capitalization swing of hundreds of billions of won within just a few trading days?
Did the AI and cloud theme drive the stock price ahead of actual performance?
Without this question, the rally cannot be explained.
■ Investor-by-Investor Share Transfers Reveal the Structure
Trading volume does not lie.
According to institutional trading data, foreign investors net bought a cumulative 919,048 shares from May 21 to May 28. During the same period, individual investors net sold 1,014,295 shares.
At first glance, it appears that foreign investors absorbed the shares while individuals sold.
But the picture changes when the data is examined day by day.
On May 26, foreign investors net sold 143,724 shares. Individual investors, by contrast, net bought 208,739 shares. It was a day when foreign investors exited while individuals entered during a rising price phase.
On June 1, the stock surged as high as 11,100 won intraday but closed at 6,610 won. The decline from the previous session was 24.72%, and the drop from the intraday high was about 40%. On that day, individual investors net bought 5.127 billion won, while foreign investors net sold 4.03 billion won. It was a flow in which foreign investors sold near the high and individuals took the other side.
On June 2, the pattern reversed. Individuals turned to net selling, and foreign investors returned as net buyers.
This repeated structure is the key.
Individuals bought near the peak, and foreign investors re-entered after the decline. An analysis has emerged that individual investors were placed in a position of absorbing shares near the top and selling at lower levels.
No official investigation result has been released by financial authorities so far. It is not possible to conclude that abnormal trading occurred. However, given the repeated pattern of heavy trading near the peak and investor-by-investor share transfers, it is difficult to avoid the view that this deserves regulatory review.

■ Individuals Are Left at the End
The final scene of a sharp-rising stock is often similar.
Trading volume explodes near the top. For a day or two, the stock appears to hold up. An illusion of another rebound emerges. On message boards, comments circulate: “The operators haven’t left yet,” “It will rise again after a correction,” and “If you cut losses now, you are being shaken out.”
But the price keeps sliding.
Individuals who bought at the top hesitate to cut losses because the losses are already large. They think they will sell once the stock rebounds slightly. But the rebound is short, and the decline is long.
In this structure, individual investors are not merely participants.
They become the final providers of liquidity.
They become the last buyers who absorb someone else’s profit-taking.
The market data does not rule out that possibility.
■ Questions for FSS Governor Lee Chan-jin
I ask Lee Chan-jin, governor of the Financial Supervisory Service.
Are you watching Namu Technology’s stock movement?
The stock rose from 4,675 won on May 21 to 8,780 won on May 29. On June 1, it surged as high as 11,100 won intraday but closed at 6,610 won. The decline from the previous session was 24.72%, and the drop from the intraday high was about 40%. Trading volume exceeded 24.45 million shares.
And on June 5, when the broader market was crashing, Namu Technology was up more than 10%.
Are you checking which accounts executed large sell orders near the intraday peak on June 1?
Are you examining the background and details of the five large shareholding reports filed by largest shareholder Lee Soo-byeong from June 2025 to March 2026?
Are you analyzing the relationship between the disclosure timing and stock price formation, including the exercise of exchange rights, merger disclosures, the bond-with-warrants issuance decision, and the quarterly report submission around the rally period?
Are you also examining whether reports, articles, YouTube content, or Telegram channel information distributed before or during the rally affected stock price formation?
The president said stock manipulation and unfair trading must destroy everything for those involved. That message has already reached the market.
What is needed now is not a slogan.
It is actual account tracing in cases such as Namu Technology.
■ Questions for KRX Chairman Jeong Eun-bo
I also ask Jeong Eun-bo, chairman of the Korea Exchange.
Namu Technology is a test case for whether the market warning system actually works.
The exchange issued the warning. But even after the warning, trading volume exploded, and the stock repeatedly surged and plunged.
Trading volume reached 12.18 million shares on May 26, 12.72 million shares on May 27, 17.99 million shares on May 28, 16.54 million shares on May 29, and 24.45 million shares on June 1. On June 5, while the broader market was crashing, Namu Technology was still up more than 10%.
Was a simple warning enough?
When heavy trading near the peak, sharp intraday swings, and repeated share transfers between foreign and individual investors continued even after the investment warning, what did the exchange do?
Does the exchange have additional monitoring standards for stocks whose trading volume explodes further after a warning is issued?
How does the exchange explain a structure in which individual investors rush in even after a warning has been posted?
Did the exchange issue a warning?
Or did it merely leave a record?
